Mission 14
Arrested for a reason

After the divine healing from the company cleric, our two heros set out to see what effect their street brawl had on the community. Switchman disguised as a non-descript sailor went to the scene while Darius headed to the dirty dock inn to give a report to Suzy. Switchman learns that the fight involved the notorious Captain Chuck and the almost famous Darius one punch. Fortunately the other people involved did not mention any other accomplices. Switchman then sought out the location of Chuck and started at the Jackis Inn. He chatted up some drunks disguised as a busty lass and manged to keep his cover when the fool went in for a squeeze of the bongos. He did not learn much only that Chuck was injured. The news caused Switchman to smile on the inside as he left the Inn and returned to his room at the Homely Hearth.
Darius traveled to Dirty Dock Inn and sought out his female-friend Suzy. While an his way, he was stopped by another friend – Bilba the bounty hunter. Apparently, a bounty was placed on someone matching Darius’s description and Bilba figured he would try and get his friends side of the story before resorting to capture. He explained that the type of damage caused in the streets that morning typically fetch a much higher price than what was posted and so this typically means someone wants to speak with them more than they want to punish or get justice. Darius agrees to go quietly with Bilba and split the bounty with him, but after he speaks with Suzy and gets a drink. Darius visits Suzy and the rumors are starting to filter over to this side of town slowly. She already knew of the fight but just then learned who was involved. She summoned a runner with the Freemasons to take his report of what happened and deliver it to the guild. Darius could hardly tell them the truth so he made up a simple lie that they were attacked and kept the business of the ring out of it. He convincingly dictated the story to the scribe and off they went to deliver the report. Darius thought quickly and paid the courier to deliver a second message to Switchman that he was in trouble at the DDI and to come quickly. He handed over a few gold to insure his message was delivered first. While Darius went back to Bilba and slug back a few pints, Switchman received the message (with the code word Bitch cookies to verify authenticity) and proceed to the DDI with haste. He was surprised to see Bilba there, but since they left on good terms, he was not too alarmed. Seeking to secure help for future adventures, Switchman offers Bilba a job. To work for them instead of against them. They pitched in two platinum pieces as a down payment and assigned his first task to track down and monitor Captain Chuck’s behavior and movement. Bilba happily agreed to the slightly less dangerous job of bounty hunting and with the promise of steady employment. As a further display of cooperation they agreed to go with him to the bounty office and split the bounty on their heads.
When they arrived at the bounty office, they are let in right away as Bilba is fairly well known there. Bilba is paid 150 gold. 100 for the bounty on Darius and another 50 for the bounty on the one matching Switchman’s description. Bilba winks at his “captives” and exits to start his search for Chuck. Meanwhile one guard goes to fetch the one who placed the bounty while the other locks them in the cell. The owlbear rumor had reached the ears of the guard and he appreciates the service Darius did for the community. He is later somehow convinced to play some cards while they wait. When the other guard arrives, the sight of the three men playing cards together frustrates the man in charge who is none other that the Dock master – Eyebrow. The tower of a man orders the guard to stay in the cell overnight and escorts Darius and Switchman to the courthouse. When they get there, Eyebrow starts to accuse them of damaging the streets and threatens to toss them in jail. Luckily, Bilba visited Homar,(who he knows helped get Jet li back to the main land and is friends with our heros) and Homar showed up at the courthouse in defense of Darius and Noroar. Homar gave a stirring speech of the good qualities of the men and how they have worked for him this past week. Eyebrow had no choice but to release them. On their way out of the office, they spied Chuck in one of the back rooms waiting to speak with Eyebrow. It seems our adventurers stumbled upon the Lockman guild’s link to the crown. Perhaps if they can break whatever bond Chuck and Eyebrow have, they could remove the protection the lockman guild is receiving from the guards. Being sprung from the joint tends to tire wear out a person so they decide to retire to their rooms for the night. The next morning they meet with Homar to receive their reward for dealing with Dugan. Homar presents them with an incomplete set of elemental gems. crushing the gem will summon an elemental under their control. Switchman grabs the Red Corundun (fire) and Darius takes the Emerald (water) and Sapphire (air). As they leave the docks, a messenger arrives with a letter from Maena. She wishes to meet with them. The letter says to come alone and to meet her at her shop in the market district. Lunch will be provided.

Mission 13
Lockmans Deception

Around mid-morning, the two adventurers conclude their business meeting with Homar and leave him to manage the docks. They prepare themselves for the deception to come. Switchman explains the plan to Darius. Switchman will disguise himself as Francis, create an illusion of himself and have the ring be stolen while darkness descends on them. Darius confirmed the plan and the two of them head to the fish market to make the fake exchange. Having already given the meeting place and day to the Lockmans guild, they were of course waiting in ambush to steal the ring themselves. Fortunately, Switchman spied the ambush and started the acting early. As Captain Chuck approaches the three men in the street, the scene that was rehearsed begins. As Noroar (illusion) yells betrayal, the darkness spreads and envelops the street. Chuck orders his men to cut off escape, but the illusion manages to fool a guild member into thinking he got away. During the darkness, Darius adds some convincing damage by punching himself and Noroar in the face. Ouch!
When the darkness is dispelled, Noroar and Darius are standing in the street with their faces starting to swell. Chuck makes remarks about how he would have paid good money for that ring, but instead of exchanging it for his prize money, he just got ripped off from the Freemasons. Switchman counters with Chuck breaking his deal and the two are clearly not going to be friends anytime soon. Chuck has had enough of the ring being out of his reach and orders everyone to attack. Switchman reacts first and summons a ball of fire to erupt behind the Chuck and the pretty female at his side. Chuck reacts blindingly fast and dodges to avoid some damage, but the woman and thug are burned really bad. Chuck launches a dagger at switchman and catches manages to score a hit before ducking beind a building for cover. Darius charges forward to finish the biggest threat he senses but the chick manages to avoid his punches despite her injuries. She summuns a powerful thunderwave which takes out the goon at her side and pushes Darius back. The goons that were ordered to surround them advance and attack. One manages to hit Noroar but Darius is too quick to hit. Switchman summons his short sword and takes a swipe at the the thug who hit him. He coats his blade in green fire and scores a big hit. The other goon also feels the wrath of the hit as fire creeps up and burns his arm and face. Chuck reappears and shoots another dagger at Darius which barely misses his genitals. Darius unleashes a couple of punches and knocks the thug for a loop. The slender sorceress attempts to lasso the monk toward her but is not strong enough. The the goons take some more swings and Switchman is battered some more but is not out yet. He takes the residual magical engery stored in his pact rod and focuses it into another fireball at roughly the same spot. Captain Chuck dodges the main affect but is burned anyways. He thinks twice about continuing the fight and turns tail to live to fight another day. The blast took out the female and she lay dieing in the street. Darius does not want to be out done by his friend, so he focuses his energy from his new tattoo into his fist and punches the nearest guy in the chest. The shirt he is wearing splits apart from the blow and all air leaves his lungs and he collapses on the ground. The remaining goons also decide it is not worth it and flee the scene.
Noroar turns his attention to the attractive human with white hair lying burned in the street and administers a healing portion. She stabilizes and takes stock of her situation. Switchman turns on the charm and gets her to warm up to her. She introduces herself as Tonnere. Switchman and Darius escort her to the Cleric on the docks to get patched up. While walking they learn that Tonnere is the sister of Maena. Tonnere also has no love at all for Captain Chuck and was there only under orderes from Maena. She listen’s to Switchmans account of the pit scandal and thinks she might be able to talk to her sister about paying the prize money. She also tries to recruit them into the Lockmans guild. Switchman considers meeting Maena, but declines any lasting alliance. They part ways at the cleric and also receive a healing themselves. As they receive their healing, Switchman ponders why the guards did not get involved in their battle in the street. Perhaps what the old Dwarf said is true and they have some connection to the Crown.

Mission 12
Mistaken Identity

After the more important members of the Freemasons exited, the room was left with Darius, Noroar, Francis, and the big simpleton Hobo Bubu. Francis convinced Hobo to give Darius the magical tattoo that he has been so interested in for half price. In addition, he recalled picking up a spell scroll case from the messy goop left behind from the Ooze they took down. Inside was a scroll of inflict wounds which Darius believed he could master with practice. Hobo obliged and began to graft the scroll to his arm. Meanwhile, Switchman meditated in the corner seeking his Patron’s favor. Glaysa responded and has found Switchman to still be in her good favor. She recounted their first visit and that she saved his life and gave him power to seek revenge on those that slayed his brethren. She tells Switchman that some of the villains responsible are on Castlerock and are allied with one of the factions seeking the ring. Switchman asked if Glaysa would be able to tell which ring is the one they seek and which is the ring that summons the Paladin of vengeance. Glaysa responded cryptically as those with power often do and says the ring with the red string will lead to his enemies undoing.
With his meditating over, he feels the bond with her grow stronger and decides to try slipping into his many disguises magically rather than phycially changing his clothes. He finds that casting disguise self comes quite easily and proceeds to annoy the other two in the room. Perhaps the most distracting of his transformations is turning in to Suzy and flashing the Monk and Hobo. Darius gushes blood from his nose while the tattooist is un-phased. With the tattoo now grafted to his arm, Darius tries to activate the spell by focusing his inner energy. His first attempt goes quite well and can feel the spell start to focus in his arm, but does not make it to his fist like he needs to. His second attempt fails miserably, but he decides to rest a while and will try again later that night.
The two bros, head back to their room and notice yet another tail. Assuming it to be a lockman guild member that hasn’t yet gotten the hint, the turn the corner to break line of sight with the tail. Switchamn disguises himself as an old man and falls to the ground while Darius hides from view. The man hustles to find them and when he goes to help up the “old man” he is surprised when a sword slices the side of his neck and the words stop following people are spoken. The old man turns away when the passers by react to the street violence. Darius comes to find out more about the tail who was just a friend of the farmer that was helped by the owlbear donation and wanted to say thanks to Darius. Darius brings the man to a cleric for healing while Switchman tries to spin the story that Darius helped the stranger out of the goodness of his heart. With that mess behind them they retire for the night and when they leave the Homely Hearth, they receive a letter.
The letter is from Jet Li. He is writing from jail on the mainland and wishes to be freed. He says he left the monastery because he did not want to serve weaklings and wanted to serve himself. After his loss to Darius in the pit, he decided he wasn’t strong enough and would rather serve someone strong than someone weak. He says if Darius would pay his bail – $600gp, he would serve Darius. The thought of a loyal follower pleased the adventurer and each ponied up 3 platinum for the bail. The met with Homar to make the arrangements for him to be freed and brought back to Castlerock. Homar was also informed that Dugan has asked for his help in fighting the Lockman’s guild and has promised to not steal anything from any of his warehouses. Homar considered his proposal and agreed that Dugan is a man of his word and considered the theft problem settled. Homar is also a man of his word and agreed to reward his workers with some items he has in storage that he thinks they would like. He says to come back the next day and he should have them ready. Later that day, they will likely face some members of the Lockman’s guild as they attempt to trick them into believing the Freemasons are buying the decoder ring.

Mission 11
Rumble in the Jungle

With Francis working on scheduling the meeting with Dugan, there is nothing left for our heros to do but wait. As they leave the meeting room, they walk around the market and pick up a few minor magical items to bolster their defenses. Switchman picks up a cloak of protection while Darius prefers the more discreet ring of protection. With their new protections in place, they head back to the Dirty Dock inn and seek out Suzy for news of the meeting. Unfortunately, her shift ended and the new waitress is less than friendly. Switchman manages to spy another tail and thinks of a creative way to lose him. Norroar convinces a nearby halfling who is already half drunk that the tail said something insulting about the size of his penis. The halfling decides to confront the human and starts by kicking his chair to get his attention. The human is caught off guard and objects to the halflings protest. The halfling proceeds to splash his drink in the face of the human, punch him in the balls, with gusto. The human stands to kick the halfling and the halfing moves out of the way and trips the guy, stands on him and the whips out his dick and urinates on the man. The rest of the tavern is a mix of laughter and disgust. Switchman helps the poor guy up and escorts him out and when they turn the corner, he summons his sword and holds it to the guy’s throat. After mugging the guy for the few coppers he had, Switchman lets him go with a message to tell everyone else to quit following them. He returns to the tavern and learns from the waitress that Suzy is schedule for her normal shift tomorrow, but also that she recently broke up with her musical boyfriend and is currently unattached.
The night is young and the two adventurers were looking for a fight so for some reason, they decided to follow up on a rumor they heard a couple days ago about a beast causing trouble north of the city. With very little wilderness training or much of anything to go on, they struck out into the woods to look for a beast. With a bit of dumb luck, they followed a scream which turned into screech that led them to a large owlbear stalking the forest looking for a meal. The lone creature was no match for the fire spells and physical firepower our heros dished out. The beast finally fell from a massive uppercut delivered by Darius. His only regret was noone was there to chant his name. Perhaps his time in the area meant more to him than he would like to admit. His quite life in the monastary seems so long ago and he craves the attention of others. The two beast hunters decapitate the head and bring it back to the town. A couple of elvish bystanders direct them to the hunting lodge to cash in on the reward. Rather than accept the reward, they agree to donate it to the farmers who lost livestock to it and spread rumors of how One Punch took down the beast and literally knocked its head off.

The next morning, Suzy meets them in the homely hearth for breakfast and the three of them travel to the meeting with Dugan that was set up with such haste. The meeting was at Hulu Nana Bubu mystic emporium and they were escorted to the back room. The meeting was attended by Suzy, Francis, a big tattooed guy named Hobo Bubu who sat in the corner, the very tall dwarf Dugan, and several bodyguards. Dugan asked for the note from Crash and read it with great distress. Crash was an udercover agent sent to investigate the lockmans guild, but also how they are connected to the royal family. The Freemasons lost contact with him and assumed the worst but were glad to finally hear a message from him. The warning that he gave Darius was to let Dugan know that the Lockmans are aware of their investigation and things have become much more dangerous for the Freemasons. Dugan agreed to not steal anything from Homar’s warehouses and asked the two sell-swords to relay his promise and ask that he ally himself with the freemasons to stop the Lockmans guild. He also asked for their assistance in dealing with Maena and her hand – Captain Chuck. The initial response of we will see what we can do was later changed to we will take care of it. To help with that task, Francis offered to have Hobo give Darius a magic tattoo at half price. (600 gp)

Mission 10
No love from Cap't Chuck

As the crowd shouts out One Punch’s name, the realization that Crash was willing to die to get the message to Dugan sets in. Darius puts on a happy face to show the crowd. The through of cashing in his wager and the payment for the fight is a good reason to have a smile too. As Darius exits the pit, he is surrounded by fans, guards and of course his friend Norroar. They congratulate each other on a great fight and are approached by Chuck.
Chuck congratulates the fighters on a good show and immediately gets down to business. He confirms that the manager he spoke with earlier that day is the same person that stands before him and asks to arrange for the exchange of the winnings for his ring. Switchman refuses to deal with the scoundrel and as he leaves, mentions to him that he would sell it to the Freemasons. Chuck lets him go and ponders what it will take to obtain the decoder ring.
As the two victors leave, Darius breaks away to cash in his ticket which thankfully is not run by Chuck or the establishment. The money exchanger congratulates Darius on betting so big on the long shot and pays out the 24 platinum pieces he won. Darius leaves with a huge smile on his face and returns to the tavern to celebrate. Norroar, who is pretty shaken from his fight returns back to his room at the Homely Hearth to recover and attune his new spell thrower to himself. Darius heads to a bar to drinks with his new friends and increases his renown as the great fighter One Punch. The first drink hits him hard and he pays for a round for the whole bar and also returns to the Hearth to consult with his friend about their next steps.
The agree that the message needs to get to Dugan and that Chuck is not as good of business man as he thinks he is. They agree to seek out Francis and to try and expedite their meeting. They go to the only way they know of to contact him – Suzy at the Dirty Dock Inn. They go through the normal routine checking in and find her where she always is. She is pleased to see Norroar after all she has heard and the news of last night’s fight has already spread to the Inn. She congratulates Darius and asks if Norroar was the one to killed Blaze. He did and quickly changes the subject to needing to speak with Francis. Suzy asks why and is shocked to hear that Crash was found and had a message. She quickly sent a message out to him. Nororar on the other hand has been watching his back and spotted someone spotting them. He expertly played the drunken fool and spilled his wine on the dude named Christian. Christian realized he was marked and fled. Norroar left behind him in quick pursuit. He commanded him to turn down an alley which was a dead end. The visibly frightened Christian offered what he could to spare his life as he knew what Norroar was capable of. Norroar instructed him to return to Chuck and tell him that he overheard Darius and himself conspiring to sell the ring to the Freemasons at the fish market in two days time. Switchman flipped a platinum piece at him to make sure the message is delivered correctly and returned to the Inn.
When Switchman returned, Francis was just arriving himself and asked that they follow him to a more secure location. They annoyingly follwed him to a secret basement where they discussed with Francis the need to speak with Dugan. Francis wanted to trust Darius with more Freemason secrets, but his friend prevented him from revealing too much. Francis did however admit that Dugan was one of the leaders of their guild and a meeting is still being arranged. He was very interested in learning more about Crash. He was a freemason agent that disappeared a month ago and they suspected the Lockman’s guild but could not prove it and they didnt now know where they were keeping him. The pit was the first time they seen him. Francis thanks Darius for not killing him and says to stay close to Suzy as the meeting details will relayed through her. Francis escorts them out of the secure room and they go their separate ways.

Mission 9
One Punch returns to the Pit

Our heroes start to plan their next move to convince the Lockman’s guild that the Freemasons have the ring. They seek out the only one they know of that is affiliated with them, Captain Chuck. He was last seen at the Jackis Inn and so that is where they go. The arrive and recognize a pair of patrons that were there for the One-Punch fight. They begin chatting them up until Darius is recognized and word spread throughout the Inn. A short time later Chuck appears and replaces the couple at the table. Switchman, acts the part of manager and tries to promote his fighter. Chuck is less interested in promoting a fight than about getting the ring back and tries to broker a deal. They manage to book a fight for that night with the winner receiving a cut of the night’s profits, and the ring to be delivered to Chuck within 24 hours of the fight. The parties agree to a second fight with the original ring thief to take on the newest fighter Blaze.
The swordsman retires to his room and a familiar face waltz through the door. Noroar returns and greets his fisty friend. While preparing themselves for the fight, a female from the freemasons is spotted and darts over to deliver a message. If Darius faces Crash, know that his is a freemason and to not kill him. She leaves as quickly as she came and Darius is left to ponder this new information.
As they enter the Inn a little time later, the place is full and anxious to see a fight. The preliminary fight between Blaze and the yet unknown combatant begins rather quickly. Noroar stumbles into the pit and is announced as Noroar the beautiful. The crowd is amused and rallies behind the more impressive looking Blaze. Noroar hears a voice in his head. His patron, Glasya orders him to destroy this agent of Levistus. As the battle begins, Noroar readies his scorching rays, until he sees movement across the pit. At Blazes first flinch he unleashes his fire and singes the fabrics of his shirt. Blaze waves his arms and several copies of himself surround him. The two square off and start flinging spells back and forth. Blaze manages shift his true location among the copies and avoids damage for while and also connects on a couple of his own spells. Noroar decides to close the gap and see what the rival warlock can do up close.
Blaze is no stranger to up close combat and meets him in the pit. Noroar conjures his green fire and in one swipe of his daggar takes out Blazes remaining copies and presses the attack. Blaze reaches out with shocking grasp, and tries to sneak in a poison spray, but Noroar is quick and avoids major damage. Blaze retreats to hit him with some ranges spells again. The two warlocks battle back and forth until finally, Noroar connects with an eldritch blast and takes the head off an exhausted Blaze. The crowd is stunned, but erupts with approval as the fight ends with a magnificent display of gore. Noroar collects the strange arcane implement and the spear of his fallen rival and sets green fire to body. No sooner had he left the pit did the second fight begin. The two fighters are announced and the legend of One Punch is hoping to live up to the hype.
The dwarf known as Crash hopes to use a couple trick up his sleeve to surprise his foe, but things do not go as planned. Darius sees a glimmer of mischief in the dwarf’s eyes and decides to take a gamble and focus his energy into a silent fight. By casting silence on Crash, he can not use his magic training and goes back to what he know best, fighting. He summons his bonded battleaxe and trusy hand axe and meets Darius in MORTAL KOMBAT!!! Darius starts off hard and fast unleashing a devastaing flurry of blows. Crash is used to meeting steel with steel, but manages to fight back with several hits of his own. As the fight progresses, the dwarf realizes that without his magic, he may not survive and complete his mission. He throws up a hail mary and prays that his message is heard. He tries to mouth that he is a freemason, but the words never come out of his lips. Darius notices the lips of his opponent move, but assumes he is trying to cast a spell and continues on with the fight. POW! OMPH! BLAMB! the Dwarf is beaten some more. Realizing he is about to win, Darius releases his silence spell and the roar of the crowd rushes to his ears. The dwarf too notices the change and in a desperate final plea, Crash tells Darius that he has a message under his shin guard that needs to get to Dugan. He then rushed forward, right into the mighty fist of Darius who punches him backwards and takes the wind right out of him. The crowd begins chanting One Punch’s name and Darius claims his prize of the dwarf’s loot. As he removes the armor of his foe, Darius finds and pockets the message for Dugan.

Mission 8
The 'Ol switcheroo

The two jewelry thieves convene in Switchman’s room to plan their next move and discuss the master plan. Switchman’s plan is to get the two rival guilds to turn their cold war into a hot one and it all starts with a spark. The ignition will be to make each guild think that the other has the desired ring all the while building their own reputation to point of being able to make a move to seize power in the vacuum left behind by the destruction of both guilds. An ambitious plan by anyone’s standards, but he is bound and determined to make something of himself. Guild master seems a good a goal as any.
Phase one is to convince the Freemasons that the lockmans have the ring. Disguised as a poor nobody, Switchman visits Suzy at the Dirty Dock Inn. He succeeds in convincing her that Darius is scared of something and is in need of a meeting with Francis right away. She sends him to the Fish market to find him. Switchman purchases a pretty convincing disguise of what he remembers Captain Chuck last wearing and keeps it in his bag. Still disguised as a nobody, he locates and approaches Francis in the market. He makes up a story that Darius “one punch” paid him to find Francis and to tell him to meet them in an alley in an hour because he has something for him. Francis tried to negotiate a better exchange location but was swayed when the nobody explained that Darius would beat him unless he agreed to meet them. Shortly there after, Switchman donned his Captain Chuck outfit and took up recon on the roof of the building next to the alley where they would make the exchange. He noticed a couple of thugs that showed up pretty early to the meeting and Switchman did not want any interference with their plans so he thought up a way to get rid of the excess company. He cast Command on the Thug and the command word was, “Shit”. After determining as a group that the guard did have to shit, and after he failed his wisdom save, The guard felt an uncontrollable urge to release his bowels. Falling to the spell that enchanted him, he let loose an avalanche of toxic sludge that not even the flies would go near. Needless to say, the thoroughly embarrassed thug walked awkwardly away to clean himself. A task which would take quite some time.
Having to wait the next 20 minutes downwind from the shitstorm he caused might give Switchman pause the next time he casts command. Anyway, Francis arrives ten minutes early to the meeting and is not quite sure what to think of Darius. Darius reaches into his pocket to pull out the fake ring and right as he was about to make the transfer, Swithman, disguised as Chuck announces his presence and that the ring is his! His portrayal of Chuck may not have been worthy of an Oscar, but it was enough to convince Francis. The alleyway gets dark and noone can see a thing due to Darius’s focusing his Ki to cast darkness. Francis and a thug charge ahead hoping to secure the ring, but as soon as Darius loses his own sight, he pops the unsanitary object into his mouth and swallows it. To make the mugging more legit, he one punches himself in the face. Switchman flees the scene and luckily no one follows him which allows him to perform a superman like quick outfit change and return as the swordsman friend of Darius. When the darkness abates, Francis is atop Darius with dagger to his throat, and a thug is beating the tar out of another thug. Francis quickly gets up and asks where the ring its only find out Darius doesn’t have it. The plan worked as Francis believes that Francis managed to get away with the ring. Darius and Switchman who arrives to hear the story, ask about why they were so interested in the ring. Francis explains that the ring is a decoder ring and is allows for the reading of secret messages wrote by the Lockman’s guild. There was a mole or a defector of some kind that revealed the hierarchy of the Freemasons and if the Lockman’s guild recovers the ring, their entire organization becomes at risk. On the same line, a list of the entire Lockman’s guild exists and could be used to undue them as well. After losing the ring after being so close, Francis says he will not pay them anything, but does agree to schedule a meeting with Dugan in a few days time. Dugan is cautious and it will take time to set up the meeting. He leaves and comments on the disgusting pile of human waste left in the street.
Our nefarious team regroups at the docks to give Homar an update. Homar is extremely upset that another tunnel was discovered and under his secure vault no less. Luckily, Homar has his own plan to capture the theif. Once he identified the ring’s magic, he commissioned another ring to be made. Once that if worn, would sic a Paladin of vengeance on them to bring them to justice. Hopefully the thief is stupid enough to wear it. Unfortunately for Switchman and Darius, there is no way of knowing which of the rings is which as there are no identifying markers on them. They go to the cleric they have used in the past who can perform the identification ritual, but for a price. Not wanting this to get back to Homar, they decide to pass and move on to the next phase of their plan which is to locate Captain Chuck, and convince him that the Freemason’s have the ring.

Mission 7
Two rings for price of none

Having arrived at the base of the ladder leading to the magical item identification depot, Darius focuses his ki and casts pass without trace. Switchman and Darius feel their footsteps become lighter, their breathing becomes quieter, and presence is greatly masked. They creep into the room above to find themselves inside a locked cage filled with security boxes and a table with 4 boxes on it. Switchman deduces that the ring must be in one of the boxes and starts the search there. He takes a dagger and deftly forces the box open to reveal not one, but two rings inside. They look very close to one another and identical to the fake in his pocket. Rather than risk grabbing the wrong one, Switchman snatches them both and they both quietly exit the room before someone could catch them in the act. They successfully have retrieved the ring, but now they have three. The real one, the duplicate from the box, and the fake one given to them by Francis.
They now were faced with a choice. Do they return to the waiting Francis or search the tunnels for another way out? The devious half-elf’s wheels are turning in his head and hatching a plan for personal profit. Instead of retracing their steps, they journeyed on along the tunnels until they came across an ancient dungeon with emptly cells on either side. They heard a pair of clanking armored guards approaching and the two of them hid in a nearby cell. They managed to hid well enough to fool the guards. When they got near, they could see the suits of armor were empty and likely just assigned to patrol the hallway until the end of time. As they reversed their course and head back down the hallway, Switchman and Darius ambushed the guards with darts and spells. They used guerrilla tactics to hit and retreat until the hall they were on ended. Luckily they managed take one out before Darius was forced to resort to hand to hand mode. The armor was slower with his strikes and barely managed to land a hit on the monk. The living combatants punched and spell bombed the remaining armor shell until the empty helmet popped off rockem’ sockem’ robots style.
Physically tired, but relatively unscathed, the two buddies continued on until they found a winding staircase that led them upwards. The staircase ended at a solid wooden door that was unlocked. Surprisingly, a lot of doors they ran into that day were unlocked. The door led to a hallway which was old and abandoned. It let them to an old stable that hasn’t seen horses in many a year. They “walked with purpose” along the wall that encircled the lighthouse until they reached a gate which led into an open courtyard. The courtyard was empty and they hurried to reach an outer gate that would lead them away from the castle. A couple guards took notice and hailed for them to stop. Thinking quickly, Switchman gave a hurried response about an urgent errand for the mayor. He said it convincingly enough to halt the guards pursuit and they made their way out into the road encircling the castle perimeter. Once they reached the public space, they sprinted past the mansions and wealthy homes built near the castle until they could regroup back at the Homely Hearth. There, they convened in secrecy Switchman’s plan on what to do with the rings.

Mission 6
The Goo down below

Our two adventurers, fresh from cashing in their bounty, made their way to the market place to spend some of their hard earned gold on some supplies. They each purchased a bag of holding to keep all of their belongings on their person and thus, much more secure. Darius also stopped by the apothecary for a pair of healing potions. They spent a couple hours hanging out in the market to try and pick up a lead on Dugan, but all they managed to hear was a rumor about an animal that had been causing problems near the forest.
Since the market didnt give them any leads, they figured they would try the only other friendly face with information to give. Suzy the bartender at the Dirty Dock Inn. Like always, the doorman confiscated their weapons and placed them in the armory and gave Switchman a claim ticket. Switchman bonded with his new weapon once the weapon was secure in the hold, he summoned it back to the interdenominational space where he keeps it.
Suzy is once again pleased to see Darius and inquired about Norroar. Sadly, his nether regions are still itching him. News of Darius one punch defeating Thunderpunch has been circulating through the town. Darius is not known for his tact while speaking to pretty girls and comes out and blatantly asking if she knows Dum Dum Dugan. She seemed shocked that he would hear that name after only being on Castlerock for several days. She admits that she has heard of him but that Francis would know more and asks if they would like to set up a meeting with him. Switchman, now in his human-fighter disguise suggests a night on the town and Suzy agrees to meet with friends in back and at dusk.
On their way out, Switchman goes to retrieve his sword and the doorman is embarrassed to say they lost his sword. Switchman makes a big deal out of it and manages to get 130 gp from the manager as compensation. Once out of eye and ear shot, he summons his sword and turns to Darius, “Oh, here it is!” They laugh at their little trick and split the money. Switchman thinks it would be fun to spread rumors about Darius One Punch and his well endowed friend. They bar hop around the dock bars and buy drinks for everyone and spread their rumors.
Eventually, night falls and they rendezvous with Suzy. Pippin the tall, large human comes along and Casca the halfling chick are there too. The 5 of them head to Michigan avenue to McMurphy’s pub. It is the Castlerock equivalent to an Irish pub. (It was st pattys day after all)
Suzy wants to get to the bay and in order to to make rooms, she yells, “Make way for Darius One Punch!” The crowd turns and looks at them and of course makes way for the famous pit fighter. At the bar, there are 4 large men drinking heavily and look down on the pseudo-celebrity. Darius and his prideful nature orders a beer like a big shot and is handed the mega-gulp of beers. He managed to chug it in one drink and immediately start a party. Everyone is in a good mood and me makes friends with everyone. The legend of Darius One Punch grows even larger. Switchman hung out at the entrance on the lookout for Francis. Suzy eventually grabs Darius by the arm and leads him out the back. Switchman spies the developments and exits the front and looks to meet up in the back. After not finding a way around, he scrambles up the building and takes a perch from the roof.
Francis was sitting on a bench in the middle of the courtyard and motions for Darius to join him. Francis knows Dum Dum Dugan and would be willing to set up a meeting if he knows he can trust them. Darius agrees to join the Freemasons, but Francis was him to prove his loyalty. The ring that he took from Captain Chuck’s ship was tracked to a magical identification shop on the market district and he needs them to steal it and replace it with a fake. A tunnel was dug long ago and they have managed to keep it secret for many years. Francis agrees to lead them to it the next morning and once he has the ring, he will give them a reward and set up a meeting with Dugan.
Darius agrees and heads back into the Pub. Switchman was feeling giddy and asks the halfling to dance. Not to be outdone, Darius asks Suzy to dance. Lets just say Darius is a fighter, not a dancer and steps on Suzy’s feet something bad. Switchman on the other hand dances up a storm and takes over dancing with Suzy while simultaneously keeping up with the halfling. The crown approves and Suzy is having a hard time deciding which guy she likes more. Norroar, the smooth talking half-elf that protected them from bandits, Darius the pit-fighting star who visits her regularly, or the new human dancer that appears to be a gentleman. Her head is swimming as Francis picks her up to walk her home. Suzy give each man a peck on the cheek and leaves.
The next morning they meet Francis outside McMurphy’s and he leads them down alleys and behind stores to a storm cellar like door that leads to a basement room. He gives them directions on how to get to the magic shop and hands Darius a torch. He warns that the tunnel connects with the lighthouse foundations and the tunnels are very old. Full disclosure reveals several freemasons have not returned but that was many years ago.
Like good little errand boys, our adventurers follow the directions until they run into a Gelatinous Cube. The Monk takes the smart approach and throws darts from a distance, while the warlock fight up close. Switchman manages to avoid getting engulfed once, but not twice. He barely manages to escape the acidic jello monster and emerges on the other side. After firing a final eldritch blast, the cube melts and the acid is neutralized. They find a driftglobe and a scroll case with two scrolls in the goopy remains. The driftglobe is given to Darius and he gives a potion of healing to Switchman. After a short rest, the team makes it to the ladder underneath the magic shop without any more incidents. Darius focuses his Ki to cast pass without trace to hide their tracks and movements

Mission 5
Darius One Punch

Darius responded to Jet Lee’s challenge by spitting in his face. Everyone knows that spitting in one’s face is the universal sign for bring it on. Seeing as how the pit has no doors, the room guards marched down and not so gently pushed Darius into the pit. They also lowered a ladder so Bilba could exit. The ring announcer introduced the new set of fighters and the crowd rushed the bets maker to make their wagers. Switchman must not have had much faith in his friend, but he did not make any wagers. After the rules were announced, the two monks squared off in the ring.
The fight started with a dirty trick from Jet Lee. When Darius wasn’t looking, he scooped up a handful of dirt and threw it in Darius’ face. Fortunately, Darius raised his hand just in time to block the sand and keep his eyesight unhindered. He also responded with a flurry of blows and connected with a couple punches. Jet Lee changed his fighting style to defensive and attempted to dodge the next round of attacks. Darius, confident in his recent success, unleashed another combo of punches and kicks, but this time, all his attacks were deftly stepped away from. The momentum switched to Jet Lee who sensed his opportunity to display why they call him lightning fist. He wound up and focused his chi into his fist which crackled with electric energy and swung for the fences. Darius seen it coming a mile away and the attck not only missed, but caused Jet lee to lose his balance and fall down. (rolled a natural 1) the lightning hit the ground and created a small crater and glass formed in the center in the shape of his knuckles. Now prone, the fight switched back into Darius’ favor and he connected with a couple kicks to the lower back and wrist. Jet Lee rolled way and made it back to his feet. Darius pursued the attack, but perhaps was a little to anxious and he lost his footing and also fell down.
Seeing his friend at a big disadvantage, Switchman used the noise of the crowd to his advantage and cast command on Jet Lee. The command word was “Taunt” and it succeeded. Noone detected the spell being cast and it gave Darius a chance to get to his feet.
The crowd roared at the showmanship of Jet Lee and went crazy at the severe tounge lashing. Darius must have responded too as the two monks went back to beating the crap out of each other. Jet lee struck another blow to Darius, but it was nothing that the tough son of a gun couldn’t handle. Darius thought back to his early years to his old monastic master Mr. Norris. Darius unleashed his master’s signature move and dealt a roundhouse kick to the temple. (natural 20)
Jet Lee’s clock was cleaned and lost consciousness for a second in a stunning knockout. The crowd erupted in applause and bedlam. When Jet Lee’s head began to clear, he seen Darius on top of him with his fist cocked back for a finishing blow and asked if he conceded. Jet Lee had no choice but to concede. Jet Lee called for Bilba to throw him some manacles and informed the ring announcer that he was taking him for the bounty on his head on the mainland.

Before our heroes could exit the pit, their old friend Francis from the Freemasons and Captain Chuck from the Lockman’s guild hop into the pit. You could both sense a tension between them, but neither one made a move. Both men offered to give Darius 500 gp if he would release Jet Lee into their custody. Darius looked to his cloaked friend for guidance and he simply stepped forward, grapped the prisoner, and started to walk away. Noone tried to stop them, but Francis did give a second look thinking he was familiar.
They exited the pit via the ladder and the crowd was totally loving on Darius. Being the prideful person he is, he couldnt resist giving the crowd a little love too. He was announced as Darius One Punch! Who know how this new notoriety will be viewed by others?
Once outside, it was late – about 1 in the morning and they needed to keep thier bounty safe overnight. It was suggested that they find a guard station near the docks to hold him overnight and deliver him to Homar first thing in the morning. The guard at the docks agree to keep their prisoner provided they are gone by morning and no paperwork is needed. The night passes uneventfully. In the morning, the group heads to the docks and locates Homar and his animated suit of armor and proudly steps forward with their living bounty. Before they hand him over, Darius takes a second to ask Jet Lee where he got his tattoo. Jet Lee doesn’t immediately divulge any information, but eventually agrees to give them something. He says his friends brought him to a guy on Castlerock. They brought with them the scroll of shocking grasp and a bunch of gold. They asked which friend it was and he says he was in the pit before they took him away. Of course, Bilba wants his money and to get on with the exchange. Thinking quickly, Switchman tells Bilba that they negotiated a free healing with the bounty and directs the dwarf to the clerics hut. Now that the dwarf was gone, Homar has his giant servant take custody of Jet Lee and promptly pays out 900 gp to his bounty hunters. They each pocket 350 gp and give 200 to Bilba. As you all know he agree to split 700 equally, but understands that he didnt do much to help in the capture and was ok with his smaller share. Switchman did give him an additional 35 gp and parted ways on good terms. The cleric sent the heros back to Homar as he had a request for them.
Homar discussed a matter that he needed reliable men to perform for him. The Pirate “El Skippo”‘s ship was found on the docks. It was sailing under the name Albatrose which he recently learned was destroyed some time ago. They confiscated all valuable goods, but the captains quarters contained some notes that he found disturbing. He originally thought the pirate acted on his own to tunnel under the warehouse, but now knows that he was instructed to do so by someone known as Dum Dum Dugan. Homar asks that they track down and deal with whomever is behind this. Homar is well connected and has access to gold and magic items if they can help him with this. The hero’s agree and exit the hut to begin the search for Dum Dum.
